Manpower Employment Outlook Survey – Q2 2013 Results

0

Each quarter, our Employment Outlook Survey measures hiring confidence among over 65,000 employers in 42 countries/territories. Our quarter two results for 2013 revealed that San Diego employers are expected to hire at a solid pace. From April to June, 19% of the companies interviewed plan to hire more employees, while 8% expect to reduce staff. Another 69% expect to maintain their current workforce levels and 4% are not certain of their hiring plans. This is an improvement from first quarter findings. The results also found that jobs prospects appear best in Construction, Transportation & Utilities, Professional & Business Services, Education & Health Services and Leisure & Hospitality. If you have been considering pursuing a career in any of these fields, now is a great time to start.

Telecommuting…productive?

CONNECT’s Timely Topics

Last week, Manpower San Diego sponsored  CONNECT’s Timely Topics and HR Roundtable on the pertinent topic of Healthcare Reform. The Affordable Care Act (ACA), which was signed into legislation March 2010, seeks to extend insurance to around 32 million Americans, primarily by expanding Medicaid and providing federal subsidies to help lower and middle income Americans buy private coverage. CONNECT’s forum was very informative and provided San Diego businesses with the information and tools they will need to understand the impacts of the ACA, including tax consequences and healthcare insurance exchanges. For more information on how the ACA will have a significant impact on employers and employees alike, read this article: http://www.nolo.com/legal-encyclopedia/health-care-reform-what-employers-32960.html
